Lent Challenges

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.  During Lent, Christians give up luxuries like sweets to remember when Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray. We are all invited to participate in this year’s 40 days of prayer and we are inviting the Kids to get involved as well.

Here’s the challenge: KIDS collect 40 coins over the 40 days until Easter.  Look under the couch cushions, in the laundry, doing odd jobs for grandparents, or pick up a coin you find on the sidewalk! Bring in the coins you have collected on Easter Sunday and let’s see how much we can raise.  On the Sunday following Easter during the Kids Learning time downstairs, YOU (kids) get to help decide where the coins collected should go!  So be thinking and praying during Lent about how the Lord would like us to use these coins to help minister to others!

Pancake Artistry Challenge

Shrove Tuesday is THIS TUESDAY, March 1!  Did you know that Shrove Tuesday is also known as PANCAKE Tuesday? It falls on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent – a period of around six weeks leading up to Easter.

So, tell your parents it’s time to get out the griddle and have pancakes for supper on Tuesday!

Get as creative as you like!  Who can come up with the weirdest pancake flavour or craziest pancake topping? Or the coolest, most identifiable shape, like Micky Mouse, a snowflake, or self-portrait?  Can you make a pancake that looks like Pastor Brandon?

So, before we begin the period of Lent, we are inviting all PANCAKE ARTISTS to send a short video clip or photos of your creations and you eating it to Brandon!  We would love to see the fun you had with your pancakes! Your photos and videos will be featured the following Sunday, March 6!
